Baby Brainteasers

Recorded 3/5/2021

A crying infant can be distressing to parents and providers alike. While approximately only 5% of excessive crying is from a pathologic cause, a missed diagnosis can be fatal. Each question will include a clinical case presentation with an accompanied discussion on labs and imaging and treatment. We’ll work through the mnemonic IT CRIES to help identify pathologic causes of excessive crying and help the provider become more confident in the diagnosis of a fussy infant.

Identifying Pediatric Breaks

Recorded 12/3/2021

Pediatric fractures are commonly missed because kids’ bones are more likely to have subtle or incomplete fractures. These fractures may be difficult to identify on radiographs and require correlation with the clinical presentation. This engaging session will provide tips for reviewing musculoskeletal radiographs by addressing normal pediatric variations and unique fracture patterns only seen in kids.
