The “S” Word: Demystifying Female Sexual Health (Rx=0.50)
Female sexual health is given very little time within medical training. Here we will discuss the science behind female sexuality and address the fact that it is not merely a light version of male sexuality. For decades women have asked their medical providers to “clean out the cobwebs” while doing pelvic exams. This cry for help often remains unanswered due to, well due to so many factors – lack of time, lack of training, lack of available resources, discomfort, or bias within the topic of sexuality. Let’s debunk some of the myths. Open and transparent talk about female sexuality and how we can address this to help our patients within our daily practice.
V is for Vagina, Vestibule, Vulva – And All Things Amazing (Rx=0.50)
Often the vulva, vestibule, and vagina serve simply as a conduit to get to that cervix and screen for cancer. We are going to take a pause at these important layers discussing dermatologic disorders, vulvar and vestibular pain disorders, and recurrent vaginal infections. New guidelines will be described focusing on the changes and rationale for these changes. Controversies among various guidelines will be presented and the clinical implications of these differences will be explored.

During this session, trends and contraceptive challenges facing clinicians and patients will be discussed. The new CDC medical eligibility criteria for prescribing various contraceptive methods and medical conditions will be explained. New contraceptive research regarding efficacy, risks, benefits as this pertains to prescribing will also be presented.

During this session the epidemiology of STIs will be discussed including recent trends and statistics. Explain diagnostic work-up for selected STIs including changes in HIV testing. Management will focus on recent changes including new gonorrhea treatment. This session will focus on the female and certain selected conditions including Herpes, CT/GC, PID, Cervicitis, HIV and Sexual Assault.

Prevention and Screening: Women’s Health Guidelines Update
Let’s start with a review of the clinically important updates to cervical cancer screenings, HPV testing and guidelines, CDC STI updates, breast cancer screening for the average risk woman, contraception, and clinical pearls for well-woman visits. We will also take a more in-depth look at prevention and screening for interpersonal and domestic violence, sexual health and incontinence concerns, and HIV.
AUB: What’s “Normal” Anyways? (Rx=0.25)
With more than half of all women experiencing abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) at some point in their life, we will discuss the importance of understanding the normal menstrual cycle and etiologies contributing to irregularities in bleeding. This lecture will look at common causes of AUB through the use of the PALM-COEIN classification system. There will be clinical case presentations, including diagnostic work-up and treatment strategies for review and discussion.

The “V”: The One Word You Cannot Say on TV
In this session, the discussion of vaginal basics will be presented. From tricks and tips on pelvic exams, infections, referrals, and pain will be shared from a frontline provider. You will learn the techniques of on the spot assessments without feeling awkward or hesitant. A review of a quick assessment of infections and the latest treatments with or without a microscope will be shared. A flip of the wrist can guide you to the proper referral. Treatments for pain, dryness, and itching will be outlined. Scripts for patient education will provide easy understanding for your patients and staff in explaining some of the hard stuff like pain. Is It Your Mate or Your Medication? Medications That Impact Sexuality (Rx=0.75)
So many people are taking multiple medications for every ailment under the sun. Everyone wants a pill for this and that. But it may be that those pills could be destroying their sexual drive and performances. In this presentation, a review of the stages of sexual response will be presented so further understanding of how and when medications impact this response will be appreciated. A discussion of each medication class will be examined. The drugs that have the most effect on the sexual response and alternatives that may be considered will be outlined. We will conclude with the drugs increase the sexual response in men and women.
